HKI-Network and buying, selling, mortgaging and remortgaging and inheriting property in France
Through the HKI-Network and its French associate office, LBMB, Humphries Kirk can offer and arrange comprehensive advice on all aspects of buying, selling, mortgaging, remortgaging and inheriting property in France, including domestic property and commercial or industrial property.
Through its agency with one of Europe’s leading banks – BNP Paribas International Buyers of 70 rue St Sauveur- 59046 Lille Cedex, Humphries Kirk can arrange mortgages and remortgages of existing properties.
BNP Paribas’ interest rates are highly competitive and on occasions have special lines of funding enabling capped interest rates and variable and capped products.
The arrangements between Humphries Kirk and LBMB enable high quality French real estate, patrimony, wills and testamentary and personal advice to be delivered through HK offices here in the UK, by lawyers who are used to working together with their equivalents in LBMB.
Buyers should be aware that the notarial fees on most property transactions in France are the same, whether the buyer uses the seller’s notary or has his own notary – the buyer is usually responsible for paying the notary fees and if there are two notaries (one for the buyer and one for the seller) then the fee is simply divided between the notaries. Buyers should therefore be aware that it is usually not very sensible to just go to the seller’s notary if you are investing quite a lot of money in buying a house or apartment in France.
